Know Him by Name

“Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.”‭‭Psalms‬ ‭91:14‬ ‭

Take a deep breath. Now exhale and let those words sink in.

He will deliver him and set him on high. Why? Because he loves Him and knows Him by name.

We can probably say we love God without ever thinking about that too much. He saved us. He redeemed us. He loves us. All that He is is hard not to love. Deliverance is ours. That’s probably the more easy part, letting Him get us out the pit. What about His name though? What about being set on high?

Sure, He is God. He is I am. He is King. He is Lord. These are names we know, but do we know Him by name when the enemy is attacking us with full force and trying to keep us from this high place?

When anxiety comes flooding in, again, and you cannot grasp the monster within your head do you know Him as Jehovah-Shalom, your God of PEACE?

When the past comes rushing in and reminds you of every failure you have ever faced, every commitment you have ever broken and reminds you that you just can’t do you know Him has Jehovah-Nissi, your banner that goes before you in victory?

When nothing is making sense, direction seems lost and the only thing you can say is I just don’t know anymore do you know Him as Jehovah-Rohi, the Lord God your shepherd who leads you and guides?

When you don’t see how you can make it to the end of the month, the bills keep coming in and this cycle just seems like it’ll never break do you know Him as Jehovah-Jirah, the Lord God your provider?

Your dreams can never be bigger than His dreams for you. Your desires can never outweigh His desires for you. He will set you in places you never could imagine being because He is El-Shaddai, your all sufficient supply.

All He asks is that you set your love on Him, know Him by name and watch as He does what only He can do.
